After playing club and men’s league, Ray advanced to collegiate and semi-pro with various schools and organizations across Canada and the U.S. During his time with the Huskies, Ray played a foundational role in weaving Indigenous traditions and ceremony into Huskie culture through initiating smudging in the dressing room, helping establish the Huskies reconciliation logo and as an active member of the Huskies Indigenous student-athlete group.
