'These works resonated with me immediately - in my own practice, I examine the invisible labour of women in my own community in Central Asia, along with the disappearing oral narratives and visual languages through which their stories were once told, often in an encoded, layered way that was only legible from within the situated context,' Kadyri explained. Honored this year in the Emerging Artist category, #AzizaKadyri is a London-based visual artist of Uzbek descent working across textiles, installation, performance, sculpture and creative technologies.
