For the second night in a row, the Hillsboro Hops pulled out a victory over the Vancouver Canadians after letting a significant lead dissolve late in the game. Going into the ninth inning and sitting on a 4-0 lead piloted by Hops starting pitcher David Hagaman, Hops relief pitching jammed up and loaded the bases with a series of walks. Joangel Gonzalez took over in the eighth retiring three Canadian batters in a row. In the ninth Gonzalez struggled to find the zone retiring two but walking three to load the bases. Hops Manager Mark Reed brought in Taylor Montiel with limited time to warm up for the final out. Things didn't immediately get better as Montiel could not get the ball on target, walking the next two batters resulting in two runs scored.
