Seoul has officially ranked No. 17 on “The 20 Most Liveable Cities in the World” in Monocle’s 2026 Quality of Life Survey, released on June 25. Every year, Monocle evaluates cities based on factors like public safety, transportation, green spaces, governance, culture, and nightlife. This year’s survey also placed extra emphasis on a city’s long-term vision and its ability to bring joy to the people who live there. One thing that stood out? Monocle praised Seoul for bouncing back quickly after the political turmoil that followed former President Yoon Suk Yeol’s declaration of martial law in December 2024.
