On June 1, 1976, Muhammad Ali walked into a WWWF TV taping in Philadelphia, removed his shirt, and started throwing jabs at Gorilla Monsoon during a live broadcast. Monsoon picked him up and put him in his Airplane Spin finisher in front of a live crowd. According to the book Irresistible Force by Brian R. Solomon, Ali's training camp was located just 75 miles outside of Philadelphia in Deer Lake, Pennsylvania. He arrived at the taping in a gray suit and was seated in the front row before the incident. After it was over, Monsoon walked to ringside and told Vince McMahon: "This guy doesn't know a wristlock from a wristwatch."
