AAA General Manager and WWE Hall of Famer Rey Mysterio dropped several pieces of news during a media briefing on the latest AAA broadcast. Mysterio said AAA is very close to bringing in a former WWE World Champion who has never wrestled for the promotion. “We are very close to bringing in a former WWE World Champion who has never wrestled here in AAA, and honestly, I’m very excited,” he said, adding the deal is not yet closed and that he would share more next week. He also said AAA is negotiating with the GMs of Raw, SmackDown, and NXT to allow AAA World Cruiserweight Champion Fénix to defend his title across all of those brands, and that an AAA championship defense is set for NXT. Mysterio further announced that the first NXT Women’s Championship match in Mexico, champion Lola Vice against La Hiedra, will main event AAA next week.
