Content warning, this is a very disturbing and saddening post, but was so shocking when I first read about this years ago—it was a footnote in Margaret Rossiter’s Women in Science Trilogy but had very little context. It took me a couple years to research and track down old articles to get a clear picture of the story. With the recent downfall of other female university presidents like Claudine Gay just a few years ago it is very relevant how female administrators can be turned on very quickly and not be backed by the institutions.
