Today we’re celebrating Windrush Day and honour the generations whose creativity, resilience and cultural contributions continue to inspire communities across the UK. National Lottery funding is helping preserve and share these vital stories, including the charity Diversity Music Community 1st, which received £244,452 in funding for its Windrush: The Music, The Sound, The Legacy project. The project explores the impact of the Windrush migration on the local area, showcasing the Caribbean community's lasting influence on the city's music and culture from the 1950s to the 1980s.
