Happy Pride! 🌈 To celebrate Pride Month, we’re looking at objects from our collection that invite reflection on gender fluidity and highlight the body as a place of transformation and possibility. ✨ This sculpture of Vajradhara in union with Prajnaparamita represents the union of compassion and wisdom, embodied as sacred masculine and sacred feminine principles. Practitioners seek to cultivate both qualities on the path to awakening. Prajnaparamita also represents Vajradhara’s shakti, or power, presenting a Buddhist vision of empowered femininity. ✨ This sculpture of Shiva and Parvati also evokes the merging of masculine and feminine forces. One form of Shiva and Parvati is known as Ardhanarishvara, often translated as “lord who is half woman,” in which the divine combines male and female into one being.
