June 26th is National Canoe Day! It is a day to grab a paddle and go to the lake with a small narrow boat. For today, Jared letterpress printed two electrotypes (copies of woodcuts) of a man and also a woman traversing a body of water in a canoe. These cuts were made in the 1930s and we hope this print floats for today. Below the images, typeset in 30 point Caslon font, states, “National Canoe Day.” This was printed with a gradient of four colors of ink using our Washington hand press, which was manufactured in 1852. #nationalcanoeday #canoe #SacHistoryMuseum #sacramento #museum
