Before you start the appeals process, make sure you have sent in all the required paperwork. 🏥 For benefits and services appeals, you may need to appeal with your health plan first. Follow the instructions in your notice letter.
To appeal a health care decision, you must:
1) Send a request for a formal or expedited (faster) hearing to the Office of Administrative Courts.
2) Receive a hearing date from the Office of Administrative Courts.
3) Prepare for your hearing.
4) Attend the hearing.
5) Get the judge’s initial decision.
6) If you disagree with the judge’s initial decision, you can file a written exception to the Office of Appeals within 18 days of getting the Notice of Initial Decision.
7) Get the final agency decision from the Office of Appeals.
