Most riders work hard in their lessons, but according to clinical psychologist Paul Haefner, Ph.D., hard work alone isn't enough if you don't know what you're working toward. The riders who improve most consistently aren't just showing up and following instructions. They're setting goals, understanding the purpose behind each exercise, looking for patterns in their riding, and taking ownership of their own development. Every lesson becomes part of a larger progression rather than an isolated ride.
