đ HOW TO teach children to spread out and find space!
One of my favourite ways to teach children about finding space is something I call the âConfetti Cannonâ.
Ask the children to imagine theyâre all pieces of confetti packed tightly inside a confetti cannon.
Then askâŚ
âWhen the cannon goes off, does all the confetti land in one big pile?â
No! Of course not!
The confetti flies in every direction, spreading out to fill all of the space. Thatâs what we want our team to do when we have the ball. Instead of everyone running towards it, imagine the confetti cannon has just exploded. Sprint into different spaces, make the pitch as big as possible and give your teammate lots of passing options.
Itâs a really simple picture for children to understand, and once youâve used it a few times, all you have to say is, âConfetti Cannon!â and theyâll instantly remember to spread out and find space.
