🧀 CHALK & CHEESE! I’ve teamed up with playtheirwayuk and ukcoaching to celebrate
#UKCoachingWeek and the power of purposeful play.
One of my favourite games to use with children is Chalk & Cheese. It’s simple to set up, easy to adapt and always creates plenty of smiles, laughter and learning.
How to play:
- Mark out a line through the middle of your playing area.
- Split the children into pairs, standing opposite each other on either side of the line.
- One side is “Chalk” and the other is “Cheese”.
- When the coach shouts “Chalk!”, the Chalk players race to their end line while the Cheese players try to tag them.
- If the coach shouts “Cheese!”, the roles reverse.
- Add decoy words, different starting positions or footballs to increase the challenge.
This game is great for developing agility, balance, coordination, reactions, decision making and fundamental movement skills! But most importantly, they’re playing and having fun.
That’s the power of purposeful play!
