Forecasters say storms could bring wind gusts up to 110 km/h, golf ball-sized hail, rainfall exceeding 50 mm, and even the possibility of isolated TORNADOES. Localized flooding, downed trees, power outages and hazardous driving conditions are all possible if severe storms develop. It’s important to note that a watch means conditions are favourable for severe weather to form, while a warning is only issued when severe weather is imminent or already occurring. The storm threat comes as Ottawa continues to deal with an intense heatwave.
