As if twins were something we opted into. As if there was a form somewhere that said “double babies: yes / no” and we circled yes.
Here’s the thing, we did have to do IVF to have our kids. We chose donor conception. We chose a home birth. We chose to do this intentionally, on purpose, in every way we possibly could.
The twins, though? The twins chose us.
And honestly? After everything we went through to build this family — the waiting, the hoping, the appointments, the shots — finding out there were two of them felt less like a shock and more like the universe trying to tell us something or teach us something.
Would I choose the double night feeds? The two car seats? The fact that someone is always crying and it is not always a baby?
Probably not.
Would I choose Benny and Dash every single time?
Without question. Both of them. Always both. 🤍🤍
