Every year around the Fourth of July, our dispatch center gets flooded with calls that sound something like this: “I hear fireworks somewhere.” Calling 911 simply because you hear fireworks ties up emergency lines for people who may actually need immediate help. Here’s your annual reminder: All fireworks are illegal in the City of Santa Clarita, including those labeled “safe and sane.” Please call 911 only for actual emergencies, such as: • Someone is injured • A firework starts a brush or structure fire • A home is on fire • There is an immediate threat to life or property If you have a specific location where fireworks are being used or a noise complaint, call our non-emergency line at 661-260-4000.
