I really can’t put into words what it feels like to be present for a moment like this, and to be trusted to document history in this way. I don’t think I had really taken the time to reflect yet about how truly blessed I am to have this opportunity until this moment happened.
So much of sports photography is actually luck and being in the right place at the right time, then the rest of it is being prepared enough to capture it when that moment finally comes your way. The action of the goal was blocked from my view, but in microseconds Lenny was 2 feet in front me whizzing by. Then seconds after that, I’ve got my laptop out (only 15 minutes into the match) and had them edited and FTP’d to our website within a few minutes.
