TriMet’s Safety Response Team members spend their days aboard Portland’s public transit system, expected to de-escalate tense situations, discourage illegal conduct, and provide resources for people in need. But they've long been dissatisfied with the company TriMet contracts with to run the program.⁠ ⁠ With TriMet reviewing the program’s contract alongside other major contracts, there may be an opportunity to shake things up.
