"Don't care who is in office. If they're not working for you, they're working against you... Don't go by colour lines. Go by good governance." Those were the sentiments echoed by one protester as Jamaicans gathered in Cross Roads, Kingston on Monday, urging citizens to put country before politics and demand greater accountability from those in power. Organisers said the demonstration was intended to give ordinary Jamaicans an opportunity to voice concerns over governance and transparency, with participants carrying placards and chanting for change throughout the protest. Protest organiser Kay Osborne said the demonstration centred on three major issues: the proposed deportee TCN programme, the management of Hurricane Melissa relief funds, and the Government's handling of the Integrity Commission's findings involving a senior government minister.
