In part 2 of episode 1 of Mentorship Moments, my student Oscar and I explore how my advice of using a timer to work quickly through a to-do-list has helped him progress towards the goal of finishing a track. Using a timer during production sessions to tick tasks off of a to-do-list can often lead to better self awareness around perfectionism and can add some excitement to the process once you are working on aspects that have ceased to feel novel. It works very well for “housekeeping” duties such as routine high-pass frequency checks, clip fades, cpu optimisation, etc, but also more exciting things such as committing to creative ideas that have been floating around the back of your mind, dialling in precise automation, using a new technique that you heard about, etc. Stay tuned for more Mentorship Moments coming soon, and if you want deeper insights into these topics, you can see full versions of these previews on my patreon (link in bio).
