I grew up in Christianity, raised by a single immigrant mother who carried her faith through loss, poverty, and a system never designed to protect her. When my dad died, it was faith that held us together… Back then I remember it was acts of kindness that put new clothes and shoes on my back each year. Everytime someone showed empathy & compassion, it stayed with me. So when I see the Bible waved as a weapon instead of a guide, I know we are not honoring the same Christ. The Jesus I was taught to follow stood with the displaced, the criminalized, the poor, and the condemned.
