I vividly remember stumbling across Jessi when I was 16 years old & being struck by her bold, unapologetic energy. There was something extremely magnetic— and honestly, a little baffling— about watching a Korean woman carry herself with such raw confidence & vulgarity. It was unlike anything I’d ever seen, especially coming from a culture where modesty and restraint are often expected of women. Growing up, that generational & cultural tension was a constant undercurrent in my relationship with my mom.
