Being a CASA is about the profound act of showing up, even when the path forward isn’t clear. Since May 2024, Lindsey has been a pillar of consistency for Diane, who has endured 14 different placements and sibling separation since entering foster care.
When Diane fell behind in school due to these constant disruptions, CASA Lindsey stepped up. She became Diane’s Educational Rights Holder and researched AB 167/216—a California law protecting youth in foster care from losing school credits during moves. CASA Lindsey cleared complex hurdles, found an alternative school that fit Diane's needs, and advocated fiercely for her future.
