I’ve been a failed magician, watch salesman, sun-dried tomato spread creator, chocolatier like Willy Wonka, sauce seller, lawn mower... the list goes on.
What I haven’t been is someone who gave up, although it’s been quite tempting more than once! Entrepreneurship isn’t easy. It’s a roller coaster filled with big drops, loop-de-loops, fear, and plenty of moments where you’re convinced, “This is it.”
When I was 15, I got stuck with merchandise I couldn’t sell and thought, “Well, I failed again.” Looking back, 15-year-old me thought that was the end, but it was really just practice.
It took me 35 years to get where I am today. Every setback taught me something, every mistake made me better, and every failure prepared me for the next opportunity. I should be thanking 15-year-old me for learning that lesson early on.
You’re going to be okay. Never give up.
