Out of the 2.1 million visitors who come to Madeira every year, only a few thousand people make it to this nature reserve! We’ve visited Madeira 4 times, and while we’ve talked about visiting multiple times, it wasn’t until our most recent trip that we actually went… It was an amazing trip to the islands where we got to walk around, jump in the ocean, and also spotted a lot of marine life along the way 🐬 We saw bottle-nosed dolphins, pilot whales, beaked whales (which is the rarest whale to spot in the world), and flying fish 🐟 The tour was just over 8 hours long and took us from Funchal to Ilhas Desertas where we got to jump in the water, have lunch on the boat, and then we got to set foot on the deserted islands 😍 It was so wild to me how ...
