Most players think the goal is not to lose.
But playing not to lose is its own kind of trap. Your decisions get smaller. Your body gets tighter. You stop trying the thing you’ve been practicing all week because the moment suddenly feels too big to risk it.
Here’s what I’ve seen: the fear of losing, held too tightly, tends to produce the exact thing you’re afraid of.
The players who change games aren’t the ones who’ve eliminated the fear. They’re the ones who are willing to try the bold thing anyway — and trust that their body already knows what to do.
