One thing motherhood has taught me is that some nights simply don’t go according to plan. You can have the routine. You can follow all the sleep advice. You can keep the lights dim, avoid your phone, feed the baby, burp the baby, do everything “right,” and sometimes your baby still won’t sleep. As a mom of seven, one of the biggest mindset shifts I’ve had is learning not to panic on those nights. Because the moment I start thinking, “How am I going to function tomorrow?” or “What if this becomes our new normal?” is usually the moment I start going a little crazy. Yes you’ll be tired. Yes, you may move a little slower. Yes, you may not be operating at 100% but that’s okay!! Not every day of motherhood needs to be optimized. Not every day needs to be your best day.
