Of all the senses, we could argue that sound (other than maybe smell) is the most transportive. Olukumi is, of course, inspired by Nigeria but the *way* I play it is inspired by London and all the other places I’ve played and toured both with Jamiroquai and as a solo artist. This footage is me getting distracted by an absolute banger that transported me to a club I used to frequent off Wardour Street in central London circa late 80s/early 90s while my Gen Z social media team attempt to get me to concentrate and film a visualiser for Olukumi.
