🌊 Image of the Week: Ocean Colour Swirls South of Iceland This week’s image was submitted by José Antonio López Ferreiro, one of the winners of our #EUMETSAT40 image competition. 👏 The image, one of three winning entries, shows intricate phytoplankton swirls south of Iceland captured by #Copernicus Sentinel-3 on 21 May 2025. José described it as “an image of discovery itself” - where swirling patterns of mesoscale circulation and biological response create something that is, in his words, both immediately visual and scientific.
