A 19-month-old boy from Bhusa Kamalpur village was taken to Banda Civil Hospital in Madhya Pradesh's Sagar district with a cold, cough and mild eye redness. His family alleges that during treatment, a medicine meant to clear phlegm was mistakenly put into his eyes instead of the prescribed eye drops.
The child's condition reportedly worsened within hours, after which he was referred to the district hospital and later to AIIMS Bhopal. According to his father, doctors there said the boy had permanently lost his eyesight. Following the family's complaint, the Health Department formed a three-member inquiry committee, while police also began an investigation into the alleged medical negligence.
