Selo Artas remembers not being able to afford a Mister Softee ice cream cone. He had recently moved to New York from his native Turkey and was paying for school. Now, almost 11 years later, he’s opening a new Mister Softee brick-and-mortar on Long Island.
"I was 25 that day and when I [saw] I can’t afford it I was feeling really bad, but I told myself, 'OK, one day, I’ll eat this, I swear.' " he said.
The latest store will be the fourth Long Island brick-and-mortar for the popular ice cream truck vendor.
