Over half a million historical records are now freely available as part of the Virtual Record Treasury of Ireland (VRTI) The VRTI is a digital reconstruction of the Public Record of Office of Ireland which was destroyed by fire in 1922. It has just added over 194,000 new documents to its collections, with all sorts of stories for you to uncover from right across the centuries - from stories of medieval poachers, and the mysterious Connaught Worm, to women’s opposition to O’Connell’s Emancipation campaign, and Irish support for the American rebels in 1776.
