The Madison County Sheriff's Office said it first learned in 2025 of allegations involving a former jail administrator who pointed a gun at employees, gave an inmate a rifle and forced the inmate to work at his home. Officials said the sheriff's office received information on October 6, 2025 regarding 42-year-old Bronis "Coy" Phillips, who served as a chief deputy and administrator at the Madison County Detention Center.
