Carrying forward a proud tradition of service, FDNY probationary firefighters, led by FDNY Commissioner Lillian Bonsignore and Chief of Department John M. Esposito, recently gathered at the
#911Memorial for a wreath laying ceremony honoring the 343 firefighters and all those who lost their lives on 9/11.
Afterward, the probies visited the
#911Museum to reflect on the history, heroism, and legacy that continue to shape the FDNY.
That legacy lives on in the current class, which includes the nephew of Battalion Chief Orio Palmer and the grandson of Deputy Chief Ray Downey—two FDNY heroes who were killed on 9/11 and whose courage continues to inspire generations of firefighters.
Congratulations to these soon-to-be firefighters and thank you for answering the call to serve New York City.
