Hillsboro Hops starting pitcher David Hagaman was a force on Tuesday night in the Hops' opening game of their Fourth of July week series against the Spokane Indians at Hillsboro Hops Ballpark. Hagaman pitched seven innings of shutout baseball facing 24 batters with nine strikeouts, two hits and no walks. After Hagaman retired to the dugout ending the top of the seventh inning the Hops offense failed to capitalize after loading the bases in the bottom half of the inning. In the eighth the wheels fell off the wagon as relief pitcher Joangel Gonzalez could not zero in on the zone hitting one batter and walking the next three to give up the first run in the inning. The second came off a sacrifice fly to right field.
