In microgravity, drinks do not settle at the bottom of a cup because gravity no longer pulls the liquid downward. Instead, surface tension becomes the dominant force. NASA's specially designed Space Cup uses carefully shaped channels that guide the liquid along the edges and directly to the astronaut's lips through capillary action, allowing them to sip naturally without straws or floating droplets while reducing spills and waste aboard spacecraft.
