For Dewey Crumpler, tulips are more than just flowers. Raised in San Francisco’s Hunters Point, Dewey Crumpler is a painter, educator, and alumnus of San Francisco Art Institute where he taught for many years before the school’s closure. Crumpler exposes, honors, and celebrates what history leaves out, using art and his evocative paintings to bring it back into view.
