Alabama answered back with 21 straight points, starting with a 3-yard TD run from Derrick Lassic. Jay Barker hooked up with Curtis Brown on a 30-yard TD reception, and then Derrick Lassic ran in for a 15-yard TD to give Alabama a commanding 21 – 7 lead over the Gators. Shane Matthews tossed a 4-yard pass to Willie Jackson in the end zone, and Errict Rhett rushed in the game-tying TD for Florida.
