“Star Trek” and “Dune” aren’t typical design references, but when designer Christine Lin, founder of the #ADPRODirectory design firm formandfield, was tasked with reimagining a century-old San Francisco home that had previously been transformed into a version of the Starship Enterprise, she embraced its unconventional origins. “They asked me if the house was too crazy to take on, but I thought it had so much potential,” she says. Rather than lose the home’s original concept entirely, Lin refined it, weaving its space-age influences throughout in a more subtle way. The result includes an airlock-inspired entry, a space-station-inspired kitchen, and a sandy-hued primary suite meant to recall Dune's subterranean villages. Tour the home at the link in bio.
