Dave Meltzer put Mercedes Moné in rare company on Wrestling Observer Radio while discussing her win over Maya World at AEW Forbidden Door. Co-host Garrett Gonzales recalled Meltzer comparing her performance to Ric Flair while they were in the building, for how she was able to carry the match and get the babyface over by the end of it. Meltzer expanded on the comparison. “Well, she has her nights where she’s Ric Flair,” Meltzer said. “The first match with Persephone in Arena Mexico was a total Ric Flair NWA title defense, coming into a territory against the local wrestler and winning. But at the same time, Persephone’s stock grew so much with that first loss to Mercedes, both in the United States, because it got her more bookings here, and in Mexico.
