Tyson was set to be the special guest referee for Hulk Hogan vs. Randy Savage at The Main Event on NBC on February 23, 1990. Twelve days before the show, Buster Douglas knocked Tyson out in Tokyo, Tyson pulled out, and Douglas took his referee spot.
