There are 24 feet of net to defend. To the shooter, it can look like there's plenty of room. To the goalie, every inch matters. Goaltending is one of the most demanding positions in sports. It's a game of anticipation, angles, and split-second decisions. One moment you're squared up to the shooter, and the next you're exploding across the crease to stop a backdoor pass or reacting to a deflection you never saw coming. The puck can travel over 100 mph, leaving goalies with only fractions of a second to read the play, react, and make the save.
