The seasonal fire restrictions in the Mt. Hood National Forest will go into effect Wednesday, July 1, banning all open flames on national forest land, the U.S. Forest Service announced Tuesday. That includes campfires, even in developed campgrounds, as well as charcoal, briquette and pellet fires. Portable cooking stoves, lanterns and heating devices that use liquefied or bottled fuel, like propane, are still allowed as long as they can be switched off instantly, the U.S. Forest Service said.
