In 1924 the US banned immigration from Asia and created limited numbers of immigrants permitted from other countries. This Act by the US Congress changed the course of immigration to the United States by building borders and designing systemically racist rules around who, how many and for how long communities could cross into America. The #WeAre1924 project aims to uplift stories of resistance, cultural survival, and reclaiming erased narratives. We see history repeating itself, but we also have the stories of our communities to provide us with a roadmap on how to empower our communities and create spaces where we all belong.
