Note to clinicians: Regardless of the information being published in medical journals today, #akathisia is not rare, and many are dying by suicide. In fact, at least 100 support group members have died by akathisia-induced suicide since 2018. Many had been unable to find a doctor who was willing to accept a self-diagnosis and ultimately lost the support of family and friends as a result. Because recognizing and diagnosing akathisia can be a matter of life or death, please err on the side of caution and believe patients who claim to have it. #akathisia #suicideprevention
