Cyclosporiasis, a nasty parasitic infection that causes “explosive” watery diarrhea, has sickened a surge of Americans, with a noticeable spike in the Midwest. Cases of the gastrointestinal illness, caused by a parasite that spreads through contaminated food, have been on the rise in multiple states since May, according to the CDC, with at least 20 people hospitalized nationwide so far. Just last week, an unusual cluster of cases was reported in the Midwest. The CDC is currently working to identify potential sources of the parasitic infection, which is commonly linked to fresh produce. #cyclosporiasis #illness #parasite #health #sick
