Taking my sister, her husband and my friend on their first 14er and it wasn’t the most successful attempt sadly. It was so windy, to the point of it not being worth the risk so we decided to turn around despite being so close 🏔️🥾 * Turning around has nothing to do with how “easy” this trail is or physical fitness. We chose based on safety and not worth risking a fall and injury. There is no cell reception here and it’s far from civilization. 📍Mount Sherman (from the Fairplay side) 5 miles, 2200 feet elevation gain. Recommend AWD/4WD to get to the trailhead Typically this is a beginner friendly 14er and the weather was going to be nice, with the exception of the wind (over 40 mph and gusts even higher 😳) Don’t be afraid to turn around. This isn’t the first time I have had to because of weather or not feeling well.
