A Mesa father has been arrested after police say they found his disabled adult son living in a bathtub for nearly seven weeks. According to court documents, officers responding to a welfare check discovered the man in extremely poor condition inside the bathroom. Family members told investigators he had remained in the bathtub since mid-May. Police arrested 52-year-old Melvin Shimkus, who is now facing one count of vulnerable adult abuse. The victim was taken to the hospital, and his current condition has not been released. The investigation is ongoing.
