Long before our children can define love… they’re taking notes on it. One day they’ll learn words like commitment, respect, patience, and healthy marriage. But long before they can explain those things… they’re already experiencing them. They’re watching how we speak to one another… how we celebrate each other… how we show affection… and how we make each other feel safe. It reminded me that some of the most important lessons our children will ever learn are quietly unfolding in the moments they watch us love one another. None of us will do it perfectly. We certainly don’t. But every day is another opportunity to show our children what love can look like.
